Steps of Construction

Step 1

   Ensure that the elevation and the location of the anchor bolts are correct as shown in PICTURE 1 and PICTURE 1A below.

Step 2

   Place columns in area of base location and stand them up (PICTURE 2 and PICTURE 2a)).  Shim base plate to plumb column and tighten anchor bolt nuts

.

Step 3

  Install a 2x6 or a 2x8 wall as shown in the building drawings-click here. Use 2 pc--1/4"x 2-1/2" carriage bolts. A treated sill  should be used at the bottom row in each bay as shown in picture 3 below.

Step 4

   When installing the Econospan structure ,on piles or piers, a 2x10 on 16 ' bay or a 2x12 on 20' bay should be installed vertically on the bottom girt , flush to the outside face--as shown below in PICTURE 4. This will prevent the girt line from sagging

Step 5

  Install mid-span girt blocking  using two nails per end as show in  P icture 4A

Step 6

Install trusses as shown in PICTURE 5 below:

   Install truss and end wall beams as shown in PICTURE 5A  and 5B below.

Step 7

   Install 2x10 or 2x12 roof purlins as per building plans. 2pcs.--1/4" x 2-1/4"  carriage bolts are required at each end and  install the truss bottom bracing as shown in pictures 6 and 7 below.

Step 8

   Install Gable end 2x6 as shown in PICTURE 8.

Step 9

   Install wall bracings as shown in PICTURE 9. Attach ends to bolts as shown in PICTURE 9A  Drill 2" hole through wall girts on the bracing line as in PICTURE 9B

 Pass cable through holes to create straight line and tighten turnbuckle until building columns are plumb as in
PICTURE
10.
After building is plumb, re-check each column for plumb.

Step 10

   Install roof bracing and tighten turnbuckles until building becomes square on roof as shown in PICTURE 11  below Measure center of corner column to center of other corner Column measurement should be equal.

  Frame man doors in wood or steel as shown below

   Install overhead door frames and wood trim as shown in pictures on drawing-CLICK HERE.

Step 11a

Insulate behind trim before cladding goes on, as shown in PICTURE 11a

Step 12

   Install 2 x 6 overhead door track backing as shown, then install overhead door trim as shown below.

   Door weather stripping will cover the gap as shown below.

Step 13

 Install base starter trim as shown in the picture12below:

Step 14

   Install wall cladding. Ensure that sheets are plumb. PRE drill holes in cladding with 1/8" drill bit. Stack 10 sheets on top of one another to drill same pattern. Use 1st sheet as pattern for rest of sheets.


Step 15

Install J trim, door trim and top trim around openings as shown in the pictures below. For drawing details--click here:

Step 16

   Install eave trim.

Step 17

   Install roof cladding pre drill holes as in wall cladding.

 

Step 18

   Install caulk tape between roof sheets. Ensure tape is on the high rib and straight.

Step 19

   Install gable trim.

Step 20

   Install roof cap with foam closures. Ensure closures are installed under cap edge for straight appearance.

 

Step 21

   Install corner caps as shown in the drawing--click here.

Step 22

   Ensure all bolts are installed and tightened!

Step 23

   Site clean-up and finial inspection.
